What Deommodore Lenoir Had to Say About His Five-Year Contract Extension

The San Francisco 49ers signed defensive back Deommodore Lenoir to a five-year extension that will keep him here through the 2029 season. Below is what the fourth-year pro had to say after putting pen to paper on his new deal.

What Deommodore Lenoir Had to Say About His Five-Year Contract Extension

Lenoir on Signing Mid-Season with the 49ers:

“I knew this is where I wanted to be, so we were always in negotiations after the Super Bowl… I’m happy we got something done, and I’ll remain here for the rest of my career. I would like to thank the York family, this whole organization, Kyle (Shanahan), John (Lynch), my coaches and my teammates for pushing me everyday. Being able to play with all these great guys, I had no other option than to try and be great. I tip my hat off to my team.”

Lenoir on His Desire to Stay with the 49ers:

“I’ve been a West Coast guy my whole life, the camaraderie within the team, all the players, my brothers, my family. My family is from this side, so I knew it was a place I could see myself long-term.”

Lenoir on Reflecting on His NFL Journey:

“I was happy. When I heard my agent tell me the deal was finally done, I burst out into tears. I’m finally able to change my family’s life for generations. It’s just a blessing.”

Lenoir on His Draft Day:

“I was telling Ji’Ayir Brown and Malik Mustapha about it this morning. Being drafted in the fifth round, four rounds going by and not hearing your name. I was seeing Bleacher Report articles with my name on it saying that I was going to be selected in the third round. I was happy for Day 2 (of the NFL Draft), so when that didn’t happen, Day 3 started to get a little scary for me. I thought I was going to be able to hold my composure, but I gave up, honestly. Then there was a 408 number calling, and I didn’t know which team it was because I though the 49ers were in San Francisco. When I answered the phone, it was John, and I immediately started screaming, ‘Yes!’ After that, it was all up to me to put everything into the plan.”

Lenoir on the Growth of His Confidence:

“That really took place when I had my son. At that time, the season had just ended. He was about six months, and I moved to Arizona. I felt like that was my growth stage. That whole offseason I kept my head down and worked. I put myself in situations, watching film with our defense making differences call and checks and seeing how teams attack certain coverages. I feel like that really elevated my game.”
