Braxton Berrios’s social media sensation girlfriend, Alix Earle, has broken her silence after the Miami Dolphins player suffered a season-ending injury.
Berrios’s season was officially confirmed to be over after he was diagnosed with a torn ACL following tests on Monday.
The kick returner was hurt on a kickoff return during Sunday’s 16-10 loss to the Colts in Indianapolis, limping out of the game with a suspected knee injury.
After the 29-year-old’s worst fears were confirmed, his influencer girlfriend Earle expressed her heartbreak on social media.
‘It’s crazy how things can change in a matter of seconds… especially seeing how much work you put into this game not only physically but mentally,’ the 23-year-old shared to her 3.7 million Instagram followers.
The University of Miami alumna vowed to stay by her man’s side throughout his recovery, expressing her confidence that Berrios would make a return to the field.
‘Day in and day out you inspire me and I have no doubt that you will be back and better in no time,’ she added. ‘Proud to be by your side and cheer you on. I love you.’
Berrios started dating the social media sensation after his split from Olivia Culpo’s younger sister Sophia last year.
They met in early 2023, but didn’t confirm their casual romance until that June. The couple eventually made their relationship official last November.
In the months since, they haven’t been shy about packing on the PDA and gushing over each other in interviews.
They also jetted to Europe for the summer, where they were seen relaxing on the beach in Italy before attending a star-studded wedding in the South of France.
Berrios also took to social media to share his devastation at the season-ending news Monday afternoon.
‘Absolutely heartbroken,’ he began in an Instagram post. ‘Due to an injury yesterday [Sunday] my season is over, the road ahead is measured in months and not days, but I find comfort in knowing I’ve been here before.
‘If you’re lucky like me, adversity has become a close friend. It means you’re chasing something not easily attainable and through all the failures and setbacks you’ve persevered. There’s pain along the way, but what’s on the other side makes it all worth it.
‘Initially all I want to do is play victim and question everything, but I know God and I know he makes no mistakes. After the dust settles the choice each day is going to be pretty straightforward- have this be a part of my story or have it be the end of my story. Well like Kobe once said, “If you see me in a fight with a bear, pray for the bear.”‘
Although he was once a prolific wide receiver, Berrios has been an afterthought in Miami’s offense this season as he’s been targeted only three times by Miami quarterbacks.
And he wasn’t the only Dolphins player to get hurt on Sunday. Miami quarterback Tyler Huntley left the loss with a shoulder injury and did not return. Huntley was starting in place of Tua Tagovailoa , who is recovering from another concussion.
Huntley exited midway through the third quarter with an injury to his right throwing shoulder. He completed 7 of 13 passes for 87 yards and one touchdown before exiting.
Tim Boyle took over when Miami next had the ball and went the rest of the way, completing 8 of 13 passes for 74 yards.
